  • The Indian Air Force (IAF) started a revolutionary digital journey on April 26, 2024, when it integrated with the DigiLocker platform, a standout project within the Digital India plan.

  •  The necessity for the prosperity and growth of the SCO Member States to embrace a zero-tolerance policy regarding terrorism in all of its manifestations.

China Launched First Hangor Class Submarine Built for Pakistan (Defence)

  • China launched the first of the 8 Hangor class submarines that it is building for Pakistan on April 26, 2024.
  • Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf of the Pakistan Navy took part in the launch ceremony.
  • 4 submarines are being constructed at Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works in Pakistan and remaining at Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group in China.
  • Modern weaponry and sensors aboard Hangor Class submarines will be essential to preserving regional peace and stability.
  • The PLAN's Type 039A/041 Yuan-class submarines are exported as the Hangor-class submarines. In April, 2015, Pakistan agreed to buy 8 submarines from China.

India’s First Multipurpose Green Hydrogen Pilot Project in Himachal Pradesh

  • India launched its first multipurpose green hydrogen pilot project at the 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station (NJHPS) in Jhakri (Himachal Pradesh) on April 26, 2024.
  •  Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) is spearheading the project, which intends to manufacture green hydrogen using renewable energy.
  • The project includes a 20Nm3/hr electrolyzer and a 25kW fuel cell-based green hydrogen pilot system.
  •  It is the nation's first multi-purpose green hydrogen generating plant, supplying power as well as NJHPS's High-Velocity Oxygen Fuel (HVOF) coating facility.
  • This green hydrogen will serve two functions: enabling HVOF coating of turbine submerged parts and generating electricity via a 25 kW fuel cell.

Autonomy and Article 244 (A) in Assam

Sale of Small Arms to India Restrictions Lifted by Germany

  • German authorities on April 26, 2024 granted the National Security Guard (NSG) of India permission to purchase MP5 submachine gun accessories and spares.
  • This is a significant development because Germany had previously placed restrictions on the transfer of small arms and their spares to "third countries," including India.
  • About fifteen years ago, NSG purchased its MP5s, which were produced by Heckler & Koch, a German company, prior to the imposition of sale restrictions.
  • All countries other than members of the European Union, those that are members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), and nations that are NATO equivalents (Australia, Japan, New Zealand, and Switzerland) are referred to as "third countries" in this context.
