•  Among the important players in India's 2007 T20 World Cup victory was Yuvraj Singh. The host nation for the inaugural T20 World Cup was South Africa.

•  Against England in a match of the inaugural T20 World Cup, Yuvraj Singh also made history by becoming the first player to knock 6 sixes in a single over.

World Shooting Para Sport Tournament 2024

• At the World Shooting Para Sport competition, Indian parashooter Mona Aggarwal won a gold medal in the women's 10m air rifle, in Changwon, Korea, on April 26, 2024.
• Army soldier Amir Ahmed Bhatt took home silver in the 25m pistol.
• With a final score of 250.8, 37-year-old Mona won the gold medal in the R2-10-meter air rifle standing SH1.
• After winning the same event at the World Cup in New Delhi last month, she achieved her 2nd World Cup title of the year and guaranteed her a Paralympic quota.
• Verónica Vadovicova of Slovakia took home the silver medal, while Anna Benson of Sweden took home the bronze.

DigiLocker Transformation Integration by IAF (Defence)

• The Indian Air Force (IAF) started a revolutionary digital journey on April 26, 2024, when it integrated with the DigiLocker platform, a standout project within the Digital India plan.
• The Indian Air Force's integration with DigiLocker would expedite a number of processes, including the recruitment of Agniveer Vayu candidates, wherein the candidate's academic document verification will be done digitally.
• To take use of DigiLocker's safe and easily available document repository services, the Air Force and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology inked a Memorandum of Understanding in New Delhi.

‘One Earth, One Family, One Future’ Endorsed in SCO Defence Minister’s Meet

• Defence Secretary Shri Giridhar Aramane attended the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Defence Ministers' Meeting in Astana, Kazakhstan on April 26, 2024.
• All of the SCO Member States' defense ministers signed a protocol during the meeting.
• A Joint Communique was released in which the defense ministers of the SCO decided to establish the concept of "One Earth, One Family, One Future," which is based on the antiquated Indian philosophy of "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam," among other projects.
•  The necessity for the prosperity and growth of the SCO Member States to embrace a zero-tolerance policy regarding terrorism in all of its manifestations.
• It was also revealed that India has long proposed a Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism at the UN.

China Launched First Hangor Class Submarine Built for Pakistan (Defence)

• China launched the first of the 8 Hangor class submarines that it is building for Pakistan on April 26, 2024.
• Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf of the Pakistan Navy took part in the launch ceremony.
• 4 submarines are being constructed at Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works in Pakistan and remaining at Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group in China.
• Modern weaponry and sensors aboard Hangor Class submarines will be essential to preserving regional peace and stability.
• The PLAN's Type 039A/041 Yuan-class submarines are exported as the Hangor-class submarines. In April, 2015, Pakistan agreed to buy 8 submarines from China.

Rabi Sankar

• T Rabi Sankar's tenure as deputy governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) was extended by the government on April 26, 2024, for a period of one year, beginning on May 3, 2024.
•  In addition to giving Rabi Sankar an extra year to serve, the central government has also given him important roles within the RBI.

Sana Mir

• The International Cricket Council (ICC) on April 26, 2024 announced that Sana Mir, a veteran in Pakistani cricket, to serve as the ambassador for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup qualifier.
• Sana Mir, who played 226 international matches for Pakistan, 137 of which she captained, will provide great experience to the occasion.
• Sana Mir is an experienced cricket player from Pakistan who has participated in many ICC competitions, including the qualifying rounds.
•  When Pakistan advanced to the finals of the 2008 ICC Women's Qualifying Series for the Women's Cricket World Cup and Sana shared Player of the Series honors.

Sarvadanand Barnwal

• The Department of Land Resources has chosen Sarvadanand Barnwal, an Indian Statistical Service (ISS) officer from the 2010 batch, as Director.
• The Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) issued an order on April 26, 2024, making the appointment.
•  For a term of five years from the date of taking over control or until further orders, whichever comes first, he is appointed under the Central Staffing Scheme (CSS).
•  The Ministry of Statistics & Program Implementation proposed him for the central delegation.
• His proficiency with data-driven methodologies and statistical analysis will be crucial for optimizing processes and guaranteeing effective resource distribution.

India’s First Multipurpose Green Hydrogen Pilot Project in Himachal Pradesh

• India launched its first multipurpose green hydrogen pilot project at the 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station (NJHPS) in Jhakri (Himachal Pradesh) on April 26, 2024.
•  Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) is spearheading the project, which intends to manufacture green hydrogen using renewable energy.
• The project includes a 20Nm3/hr electrolyzer and a 25kW fuel cell-based green hydrogen pilot system.
•  It is the nation's first multi-purpose green hydrogen generating plant, supplying power as well as NJHPS's High-Velocity Oxygen Fuel (HVOF) coating facility.
• This green hydrogen will serve two functions: enabling HVOF coating of turbine submerged parts and generating electricity via a 25 kW fuel cell.

Bru Migrants of Mizoram Voted For the First Time

• For the first time, Bru migrants who have settled in Tripura cast their votes in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections on April 26, 2024.
• In 2020, Bru migrants, the state governments of Tripura and Mizoram, and the central government reached a quadripartite deal that resulted in their permanent resettlement.

Autonomy and Article 244 (A) in Assam

• Election promises made by candidates from all political parties center around the implementation of Article 244(A) of the Indian Constitution in the tribal-majority Diphu Lok Sabha seat of Assam, which went to polls on April 26, 2024.
•  This constitutional clause gives Assam's tribal areas more autonomy by permitting the establishment of an autonomous state within the state.

Sale of Small Arms to India Restrictions Lifted by Germany

• German authorities on April 26, 2024 granted the National Security Guard (NSG) of India permission to purchase MP5 submachine gun accessories and spares.
• This is a significant development because Germany had previously placed restrictions on the transfer of small arms and their spares to "third countries," including India.
• About fifteen years ago, NSG purchased its MP5s, which were produced by Heckler & Koch, a German company, prior to the imposition of sale restrictions.
• All countries other than members of the European Union, those that are members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), and nations that are NATO equivalents (Australia, Japan, New Zealand, and Switzerland) are referred to as "third countries" in this context.
• With the limits lifted, the Indian military, paramilitary forces, and state police will have another avenue to purchase small arms.

26th World Energy Council

• A Ministerial Round Table Conference was held at the 26th World Energy Congress in Rotterdam, Netherlands, April 24-26, 2024.
•  The Round Table Conference deliberated on the ways in which the COP28 UN Climate Change Conference, held in Dubai, changed the game.
•  Along with these topics, the Ministerial Round Table addressed energy innovation, cooperation, and the management of the increasing energy trilemma trade-offs.
• Emphasis was on the importance of India as a policy accelerator in the global energy transition and its critical role in COP28.
• The G20 New Delhi Leaders' Declaration attests to India's efforts to accelerate convergence toward the COP28 renewable energy and energy efficiency pledges, which call for tripling the world's renewable capacity by 2030 and doubling the rate of annual increases in energy.
